1- Breathe - upon rising in the morning before getting out of bed, sit up with your back straight and take a few deep cleansing breathes into your belly. Visual white light entering your body with each breath as you inhale and with each exhalation visualize all the stagnant energy and toxins leaving your body.
2- Cleanse with oil pulling – oil pulling is ancient Ayurvedic detoxification methods, which cleanses and kills bad breath, remove bacteria from your mouth, can heal and nourish the gums and can potentially prevent cavities. Take a tablespoonful of extra virgin organic cold pressed Coconut oil and swish it in your mouth for about 10-20 minutes, then spit it all out in a trash can, (DO NOT SWALLOW!) rinse your mouth with warm water and brush your teeth.
3- Scrape your tongue – after brushing your teeth gently scrape your tongue with a tongue scraper (made of copper or stainless steel) for about 7-14 strokes from back to front to remove toxins that accumulated on the tongue overnight. This method also improves taste and freshen breath.
4- Drink warm or hot lemon water – boil water, squeeze half a lemon let cool a bit to warm temperature and drink this first thing in the morning about 30 minutes before breakfast to flush out toxins from the digestive tract.
5- Sip Spice Tea - Prepare spice detox water from three Ayurvedic spices that are known to cleanse and ignite the digestive fire. Boil 2 cups of water with half teaspoon of cumin seeds, half teaspoon of coriander seeds and half teaspoon of fennel seeds, reduce to one cup by boiling and sip this decoction throughout the day with and in-between meals.
6- Exfoliate - exfoliate your skin with dry brushing before taking your morning shower to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and stimulate the lymphatic system. Gently brush your skin using a natural bristle brush starting from the feet and work your way up towards the heart.
7- Oil massage – after brushing your skin, massage oil to your skin (I prefer almond oil because of its nourishing and neutral qualities), wait about 10 minutes and then take a warm shower or if you have more time soak in a nice hot bath.
8- Exercise – exercise assist the body in getting rid of toxins through sweating and movement.
9- Meditation – meditate daily to calm and detox your mind from toxic thoughts.
10- Eat plenty of fiber - make sure you add lots of fiber to your diet as it aids in cleansing the body by keeping your bowel clean.
