Spring is finally here! Don’t you love spring?! It’s my favorite season of all.
Its like we’ve reached that light at the end of the tunnel. Woo-hoo!

Beside the fact that spring brings long days, more light and warmer weather it also brings beautiful vibrant colors and intoxicating smell of beautiful fresh blossoming flowers everywhere. Spring brings people together as we are finally coming out of hibernation and able to enjoy the outdoor. It brings the feeling of renewal and lightness as we put away our heavy winter coats and boots and dig the grown to plant our seeds.

So in the spirit of renewal and getting out of winter heavy and dense energy its not just vital to do a spring body cleanse but also cleansing our living and office space according to Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese system that teaches us how to live and create harmony in our living environment.

A great way to start the spring-cleaning project is by getting rid of clutter. Clutter blocks energy, collect dust and makes us feel stuck. Clearing space creates good flow of energy, which also allow more room for new things and people to come into our life.

Some people have a hard time letting go of stuff particularly those with Kapha constitution and imbalances. Kapha’s qualities are heavy, dense, sticky and cool, which makes them slower and more attached in general, hence they have the tendencies to hoarder.  In such case I would highly recommend working with a Feng Shui practitioner to help support you with this process so that you can feel more empowered.

If you tend to get overwhelmed with organizing and de-cluttering, I suggest starting with the smaller tasks first. After clearing and reorganizing each space, light an incense, candle or sage in that space to bring good energy. You could also create a small ritual to help you set your intentions of letting go and inviting new energy into your space and into your life.

Here is a list of what to include in your spring-cleaning:

~ Kitchen – kitchen represent nourishment for health and wellbeing. You can start with the refrigerator, get rid of old foods that you haven’t been using in the past month and clean each shelf. Get rid of old dishes, pots and pans you don’t use anymore, particularly if you are still using Teflon pans, this may be the perfect time to replace them with stainless steel. Always keep your stove clean. In Feng Shui the stove holds the energy of prosperity and abundance.  Its also a good idea to get rid of dishes that have cracks in them.

~ Bathroom – Go through all your beauty products and get rid of the ones you haven't used in the past 6 months and make space for new.

~ Bedroom – I like starting with my closet so I can make room for new outfits and donate the ones I don’t use anymore. Put away your winter cloths and bring back your spring/summer cloths and shoes. Do the same with your winter blankets and sheets.

~ Basement – If you have a basement or an attic I highly recommend going through all the stuff you have there and reorganizing, keeping what you need and letting go of what you don’t use anymore.

~ Computer – Clean your desktop, delete old emails and documents and do the same with your phone.

~ Clear your medicine and vitamins cabinet

~ Wash windows and wipe all mirrors and doorknobs

~ Clean bookshelves and donate to your local library the books you aren’t using anymore.

~ Clean and organize your car and don't forget to do the same at your work space.

 Happy Spring!!! :)
